&& we back.

Mostly. My little piece of the internet has been on hold for the past few weeks. I swear I did try to give it some TLC but got a little caught up in a bunch of other things.

Here are the cliff notes. Back in June, on a Friday morning to be exact, I walked into the office and my fairy god-boss granted the only wish I’ve had since the age of 12. A 10 minute conversation ended in a relocation opportunity to California and a booked flight the following Monday. I had a stupid grin plastered on my face the rest of the day and to be honest, it still hasn’t gone away.

The past 6 weeks have looked a little bit like this… San Francisco, Cleveland, Savannah, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Cleveland, San Francisco, Cleveland, Savannah, Chicago, San Francisco. See the reason for blog neglect?

I also thought that, ya know, like, I would have picked up some life skills. Packing… that went really well. I spent a solid 35 minutes trying to unscrew my bed frame. Metal bars are falling on my legs scraping them up and the mattress I had precariously leaning against the wall tipped the opposite direction back onto my head. Lefty loosey, righty tighty, people!

IMG_8287^ Pretty much my face the entire time I was packing

Luckily, there are some awesome places to explore on the west coast. As soon as I get semi-organized (mainly find a photog/think through blog post ideas/unpack my entire life/attempt to put my bed back together) I’m hoping to turn this place into a more creative space. Here’s to the back half of 2K17!

She Has Inner Resources

Right next to the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Museum (Where these photos were shot) is another art museum hidden under the guise of a boutique hotel. Housed in this hotel is the most phenomenal restaurant with the absolute best rooftop bar and cocktails to match. If you haven’t been,ย 21Cย should be the next stop on your list. Don’t be surprised if you end up dining with a yellow penguin and be sure to order a drink… or two.

Speaking of hotels, I have a little bit of an obsession with the book Eloise. Town & Country literally just published an article providing more backstory to Kay Thompson’s mischievous six-year-old Plaza resident. I laughed when I read that the book was originally intended for adults because I think I love, love, LOVE it more now than I did as a kid.

Keep Your Roots Local

I grew up in Cincinnati. 17 years later and I still hadn’t wandered down to Findlay Market. Every other thing that you’re supposed to cross off your hometown bucket list was complete. Sometimes it takes a trip back home and a weekend as a tourist to see a city in a completely different light. I’ll save that hometown rant for another day… ๐Ÿ™‚

Cruisin’

Taking on #PlaidNation decked out in blue. I’m pretty sure no one would let me near the RBC Heritage with the amount of holes in my jeans and shirt. Not golf appropriate. Jeans, purchased the pants with tears in them. Shirt, notsomuch… That bad boy didn’t have a rip in it at the day of purchase. It did, however, have a crease. A crease that needed to be ironed. Did you know that you aren’t supposed to iron silk? Take it from experience that it doesn’t work. I had to iron out the other side to make it match so it would look like it was intentionally purchased shredded.

Lesson learned. Read the care instructions.

North is Just a Direction

The South is home. Or at least it became home. I think I’m still too born and bred midwest for all y’all southerners to claim me. However, home is the place where your family lives. Mine just happened to get smart and migrate towards warmer weather. Clearly I wasn’t born with the brains.

If anyone is on the hunt for new jeans… Check out Paige. I’ve been living in these things and the fit is perfection.

Let There Be Brunch

If your weekend doesn’t include Brunch, then you’re doing it wrong. Just keep in mind that this is also coming from the person that spent an absurd amount of moneyย to attend a brunch convention (#NoShame) and didn’t even get a gram. I mean what else are you supposed to do right after your food arrives. Eat it?

Regardless, Chicago has this beautiful restaurant in the Soho house called The Allis. 110% would recommend. Now if only I could figure out where to eat this coming weekend.
